You can use Chip 'n' Cover mulch in a wide range of outdoor spaces. It’s perfect for garden beds, borders, and around trees to help retain moisture and reduce weeds. It also works well for pathways, play areas, and decorative ground cover. Because it’s made from clean, processed pallet wood, it’s durable and tidy, making it a great option wherever you’d like a natural, low-maintenance surface.
Pallet wood is generally safe to use as mulch, but we want to be transparent. While the vast majority of pallets are heat-treated (using high temperatures to kill pests, not chemicals), there is a small chance that some may have been exposed to treatments, paints, or stains in their previous use. At Chip 'n' Cover, we carefully sort, clean, and process the pallets to remove nails and contaminants, but we cannot 100% guarantee that every piece is completely free from prior chemical exposure. For that reason, we recommend using our mulch primarily for landscaping, pathways, and decorative purposes rather than directly in edible plant beds.
Using waste pallets instead of fresh wood helps the environment and keeps costs down. Every year, thousands of pallets that can’t be reused end up in landfills. By shredding and processing them into mulch, we give that wood a second life while reducing waste. It also means fewer trees need to be cut for landscaping mulch, making Chip 'n' Cover a more sustainable and responsible choice. Plus, you still get a durable, effective mulch without compromising on quality.
Right now, we’re operating on a supply-and-demand basis. That means we produce mulch in batches based on the level of interest. If you’d like to place an order, just let us know the space you’d like to fill, and we’ll work out how much mulch you’ll need. From there, we can confirm availability and arrange delivery to suit your requirements.
Yes, Chip 'n' Cover mulch works much like regular mulch. When spread in a good layer, it helps block sunlight from reaching the soil, which naturally reduces weed growth. It also slows down evaporation, helping the soil hold onto moisture for longer. This means your plants stay healthier and need less frequent watering, while your garden beds look neat.
